Build Own Mobile Apps, also known as “building apps” are mobile applications built by independent developers who have the ability to modify code directly from their desktop or laptop computers and make them available for download on a variety of platforms including iOS, Android, and Windows Phone. This is usually done with an app store where users can download a free application and install it directly on their smartphone, tablet, gaming console, etc.

It is becoming increasingly popular because it allows parents to be involved in developing their children’s careers and to help teach them how to use technology. There are different ways to make your own mobile app and some popular ones include using Ionic or ReactNative, using the Google Play Store, creating a web app using NodeJS, Microsoft Azure, GitHub, and many other popular tools.

Let us dive into the step-by-step process of building your own mobile app and learn more about these methods in this blog post. Step 1 Create A Product Idea Before you start making your product idea and choosing technologies, it is important to have strong ideation skills. Having something that could work and being able to see what works and what doesn’t in terms of user experience, functionality, design, etc. will help in taking the next steps and getting started on the right path.

The first thing to do after having these ideas is to take a look at existing products. With that mindset, you can start thinking about what kind of products you would like to create and why they exist. If you are already aware of this type of product, it can be easier to come up with a good solution and focus on those aspects that matter most. For example, let’s say we want to build a game called Animal Crossing. We know there are lots of people who love playing Animal Crossing on their phones and laptops but want a way to share a video game experience between players or even friends.

So, instead, we want to develop our own platform where players can rent out virtual pets and get rewarded for doing so through points and rewards points. Allowing users to create and monetize their own virtual pet is something that has not been done before and therefore provides great opportunities for innovation.

Now, let's move on to step number 2 which involves looking for suitable technologies. Here are the technologies you can consider when starting development: Ionic or AngularJS – These two technologies are widely used in creating natively operating systems for mobile devices. You can choose one of them based on your requirements. Ionic is open-source and relatively easy to use while AngularJS is a paid project. Both these technologies offer pretty similar features but they come with their own set of challenges.

Ionic supports the creation of large projects that require a lot of resources, whereas AngularJS only supports static sites. You should be fine if you stick to either one but always consider both of these technologies to help you get started and avoid a dead end. Step 3 Choose Tools & Technologies In order to create a fully functional product that offers all possible features, you need to think carefully about various technical solutions.

Each of these solutions comes with its pros and cons, so it is important to carefully evaluate each of them. Let us go over some common options: Ionic | AngularJS — One of the best choices for beginners and experienced developers alike. AngularJS is very simple and powerful. It is made with HTML5, CSS3, and JSX (JSX syntax) and it is basically just a JavaScript library used to handle your website element. You can build your website with AngularJS using any web framework like React with VueJS, Ember, or Angular.

However, unlike AngularJS, Ionic does not support templates and so you have to write everything yourself. Ionic’s main advantage is that it allows you to customize your site quickly and easily. However, Ionic does not support authentication, which means users have to sign up for access to content on your site. You have to implement a login form to allow users to enter their credentials. The downside of this system is that it requires a backend service with some real estate and you may need to pay for hosting.

Another disadvantage is that it is hard to add features that are not part of the default package, which makes things like payment processors difficult. At the same time, you must think carefully about security because this system requires some level of encryption. Additionally, you cannot run complex scripts locally so you have to deal with this issue. AngularJS — Unlike Ionic or AngularJS, AngularJS is designed specifically for mobile devices so it will be much better suited to creating mobile-friendly applications.

It is open source and highly customizable. That said, it still requires some level of expertise. AngularJS offers many advantages like compatibility with other frameworks and libraries. The biggest drawback is that it uses WebView which limits performance depending on device hardware configurations. As long as you plan ahead and use the latest version of the Chrome browser, you can achieve excellent performance.

Other than that, there are no issues related to security, although you have to consider implementing SSL encryption to encrypt sensitive data. Furthermore, you will have to spend some time writing the frontend and designing layout. AngularJS is the perfect choice when you want to focus on the visual aspect, but don't want your back-end resources to be controlled by others.

However, it definitely requires some knowledge and experience before moving forward. Next Up: Building A Native App Using Cordova: What Is Cordova? Cordova is a cross-platform framework based on HTML and XML which allows you to create natively compiled mobile apps. Its primary purpose is to provide an entry point into the development process but it does much more than that.

Some major benefits include ease of installation, support for third-party APIs and JavaScript, and extensive pre-built components. Plus, according to experts, it is significantly faster than traditional approaches and is ideal for small teams working on smaller projects. Although it is worth mentioning that Cordova is not supported by Apple and Google, and therefore, not entirely compatible with the latter. But if you are interested in exploring it, here are some tutorials to get you started on your journey with: If you find Cordova useful, then it’s a good option to explore further.

Next, let’s discuss some practical steps you need to follow to get started. Step 4 Developing Skills After having developed your skill set, now you need to decide whether you want to develop it professionally or self-teach. According to my experiences, the second option is the better choice, especially if your kids are going to be involved in technology and want to learn.

Why? Because teaching your kid how to code is a much more fun and rewarding experience and they can show your child that technology is a tool for creative expression and growth. Moreover, because the learning process takes place in a classroom environment, they can ask questions, interact with your creations, and discover new concepts.

They can make valuable contributions and grow in confidence. When talking to them about their apps, chances are high they won’t tell you what they actually do but they will make sure you understand what they’re thinking and what motivates them.

My advice is to tell them about what you’ve built so far and to encourage them to continue improving upon your progress. Remember, it is okay to be slow and unsure sometimes but don’t give up too soon.
